Villanova University Named Recipient of Gallup’s 2021 Don Clifton Strengths for Students Award VILLANOVA, Pa. Villanova University has been named as one of two recipients of the 2021 Don Clifton Strengths for Students Award. The award recognizes colleges, universities and districts that “enable students to learn what they naturally do best and apply their strengths to thrive in school and all areas of their lives.” Villanova, along with Georgia State University, were selected from a small number of finalists among the more than 1,000 schools which partner with Gallup on their strengths-based strategy. Past recipients of the award include Purdue University, Virginia Tech University, Kansas State University and Furman University. ....
On Wednesday, March 24, the Universityâs Student Government Association (SGA) held a Community First Town Hall webinar via Zoom at 6 p.m., inviting students to attend and ask any questions related to the handling of COVID-19 on campus. The event invited University administrators to be panelists and help answer student questions. These panelists included Dean of Students Tom DeMarco and Associate Vice President for Student Life Kathy Byrnes and Associate Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning Randy Weinstein. The webinar was facilitated by Caroline Levine, the current Vice President and recently elected President of SGA for next year and Maggie Emamzadeh, a Liberal Arts Senator for SGA. Students had to register to attend the event, and on that form they were encouraged to include any questions that they wanted answered during the Town Hall. Levine and Emamzadeh took turns asking these questions to the panelists, while also allowing students to pose questions in the chat fu ....

New task force in Des Moines to promote urban farming December 23, 2020 GMT DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) A new task force in Des Moines will promote urban agriculture and other measures in hopes of bolstering resources for residents with limited access to healthy diets. The Des Moines Register reports that City Council members unanimously approved the food security task force Monday. The seven-member group will work on a volunteer basis with city officials to promote urban farming, research and recommend potential policies and create an online resource guide. The guide will offer information about where to find tools, compost, seeds, laying hens, honey bees and other supplies. ....
