CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — With a new stimulus bill on the horizon, Americans will be receiving some economic relief as early as next week. For some Coastal Bend residents, that aid is crucial.
“For me personally, well I can pay some of my late bills, said Tomasa Alonzo. It would help me a lot, like I said, paying my bills. Especially now, that we can not do anything outside of home.”
Melinda Flores recently became disabled, and while she received the first stimulus package, she is unsure if she will be able to receive the second bill. ....

Nonprofits organize holiday outreach for Coastside farmworker, essential worker families

Bay Area Border Relief volunteers announced a food and basic supplies drive, Coastside Christmas, to support 250 farmworker and essential worker families from the coastal communities of San Mateo County, including residents of Half Moon Bay, El Granada, Montara and Pescadero. All collections will be distributed on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Half Moon Bay Library, 620 Correas St.
Belinda Hernandez-Arriaga, ALAS (Ayudando Latinos a Soñar) founder and BABR co-founder, will welcome everyone, with brief remarks by Half Moon Bay city representatives, Rep. Jackie Speier, state Sen. Josh Becker and Joaquin Jimenez, an ALAS staff member and the first Latino city council member in Half Moon Bay.   ....
