Maine Public Employees earmarks up to $257 million to 4 funds

The board of trustees of the Maine Public Employees Retirement System, Augusta, voted to approve four commitments totaling up to $257 million, James Bennett, chief investment officer of the $16.6 billion pension fund, said in an email Friday.
The board approved the commitments Thursday, subject to final due diligence, legal review and negotiations, Mr. Bennett wrote.
The commitments are to:
Meridiam Sustainable Infrastructure Europe IV for up to €85 million ($101.2 million). Meridiam is an existing relationship.
Cube Infrastructure Fund III for up to €85 million to a European infrastructure fund managed by
Cube Infrastructure Managers, an existing relationship. ....

Sigfox brings in Google Cloud for next stage of IoT journey

The last few years have proved tough for Internet of Things (IoT) specialist Sigfox as it became mired in turmoil, intrigue and uncertainty about its very survival.
After becoming virtually a household name following its establishment in 2010, recent years have been marked by an exodus of top executives and job cuts. According to a report in Les Echos in September 2020, the company said it would cut 47 of 400 jobs.
At the time, CEO Ludovic Le Moan told the French broadsheet that 2020 was proving to be a complicated year, not least owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has previously targeted 1 billion connected devices by 2023, but is still a long way from achieving that goal with only 17 million devices connected thus far. ....

Gee whiz: G.Network raises $1.3B for full fiber rollout in London

Through a mixture of debt and equity, UK altnet G.Network has raised in excess of £1 billion (US$1.3 billion) to expand its full fiber rollout in London.
A debt facility of £745 million ($997 million) was secured through four banks, which is contingent on passing certain milestones.
The UK s Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), which reportedly has assets of around $67 billion ($90 billion), is in for almost £300 million ($402 million) in exchange for an undisclosed stake in the altnet. USS payments will be staggered over six years, also apparently in line with agreed targets.
G.Network, according to the Financial Times (paywall applies), has so far passed 150,000 premises with fiber in London. With the meaty cash injection, however, the aim is to pass 1.4 million premises over the next five years. ....
