Kano Transmits Child Rights Bill to State Assembly for Passage

Kano State Executive Council has approved the acceptable version of the proposed bill on Child Rights (protection) Act 2010, which reflected the position of Shari’ah on each section of the Child Rights Act (CRA) 2003 adopted by the federal government.
The state Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, disclosed this yesterday as part of resolution of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Kano.
Garba said the administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, due to his commitment to child welfare, after assenting to the bill on Free and Compulsory Education, developed keen interest in seeing the passage of the CRA. ....

Kano state Executive Council has approved the acceptable version of the proposed bill on Child Rights (protection) Act 2010 which reflected the position of Shari’ah on each and every section of the Child Rights Act (CRA) 2003 adopted by the federal government.
It would be recalled that after its adoption by the federal government in 2003, the state government and other relevant stakeholders that included the Ulama, academics, Non-Governmental Organization, later drafted the 2010 act, which, however, could not be passed due to lack of political will and continuity in government. ....

Nasarawa United Football Club on Sunday drew 1-1 with visiting Kano Pillars Football Club in a Day three match of the 2020/2021 Nigerian Professional Football League at the Lafia Township Stadium.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the first half saw some fine display of skills and scoring opportunities mostly from the home side but with no goals.
Kano Pillars went ahead on resumption (46th minute) through substitute Nwagwa Nyima, who capitalised on the home side’s poor defending to score.
NAN reports that Nasarawa United failed to equalize in most of that half but when it looked like they were going to lose their first match of the season, Adamu Hassan, latching on a pass from Abubakar Abdullahi, slotted the ball into the net for the home team’s needed equalizer in the 83rd minute to make it 1-1 till the final whistle. ....

Lafia, Jan. 11, 2021. Nasarawa United Football Club on Sunday drew 1-1 with visiting Kano Pillars Football Club in a Day three match of the 2020/2021 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match at the Lafia Township Stadium.
