I personally am most inspired by a wide range of poetry, prose and essays written by Claudia Lee Hae-in, a Catholic nun and acclaimed poet. My interest in Lee s poetic world originated with Lee Sung-ku, one of my close colleagues who is a cousin of Lee Hae-in.
He spoke to me on numerous occasions about Lee since the 1980s, and I actually had the pleasure of meeting her at the wedding of Lee Sung-ku s son at Hyehwa Catholic Church, Seoul in 2010.
Lee Hae-in was born into a Catholic family in 1945 in Yanggu County, Gangwon Province, and displayed immense literary talent from a very young age. As a result of her father being kidnapped by North Korean troops during the Korean War in 1950, Lee was forced to flee to Busan with her family. ....

Grants up for grabs for Somerset farmers: How you can bid

FARMERS are being invited to bid in Somerset’s biggest ever auction for works to reduce flooding, boost agriculture and improve the environment.
The online event, organised by the Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group SouthWest (FWAG SW) for Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) and Bristol Water, will see farmers bid for funding by submitting works that will achieve the aims of the auction, in this case to protect water sources and prevent flooding.
It will run online from Monday, March 1 to Monday, March 15 at somerset.naturebid.org.uk.
Cllr David Hall, chair of the SRA, said: “This will be our fourth online auction and this year farmers are being offered a choice of up to 12 different measures, more than ever before. ....

Farmers in the Burnham-On-Sea area are being invited to bid in Somerset’s biggest ever auction for works to reduce flooding, boost agriculture and improve the environment.
The event is being organised by the Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group SouthWest (FWAG SW) for Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) and Bristol Water.
Cllr David Hall, Chair of Somerset Rivers Authority, said: “This will be our fourth online auction and this year farmers are being offered a choice of up to 12 different measures, more than ever before.”
“The aim is to help slow the flow of water down to vulnerable areas while delivering other benefits. Moves like grassland slitting and subsoiling, for example, don’t just aerate the ground and let more rain filter in, they also improve the soil.” ....

Police are investigating the death of a Catholic nun whose body was found in an abandoned quarry filled with water in southern India s Kerala state.
The body of Sister Jaseena Thomas, a member of the Missionary Congregation of the Daughters of St Thomas, was found floating in the quarry in the Vazhakkala area of Ernakulum district on Feb. 14. ....
