Those planning to go hiking in Jirisan National Park this summer may run into Asiatic black bear cubs born there this year.
According to the Ministry of Environment and the Korea National Park Service, four adult female Asiatic black bears have given birth to a total of six cubs this year. They confirmed the existence of the cubs through cameras installed in and around the bears' hibernation area.
Asiatic black bears hibernate from around the end of December to March the following year, and usually give birth to one or two cubs in January or February in their hibernation den. The cubs grow quickly, weighing around three to four kilograms when they come out of the den.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, the bear was seen in the backyard of a home near Elmwood Street and Pickard Avenue. Around midnight, the department received a call from the Oklahoma City Police Department notifying wildlife officials their assistance was needed.
Officials said they spent hours to trap the bear, hoping to tranquilize and move it to a safe location.

A man suffered horrific head injuries including a crushed jaw and punctured scalp after being attacked by a brown bear while out surveying land in rural Alaska.
Allen Minish had been inputting data to his GPS during a real estate surveying trip near Gulkana, around 190 miles northeast of Anchorage, when he noticed the animal standing just 30 feet away.
The 61-year-old, from the village of Chitna, tried to hide behind spruce trees but the bear charged towards him.
He brandished the pointed end of his surveying pole but the bear simply knocked it aside.

Austrian Prince Accused Of Illegally Killing Bear Named Arthur In Romania

Austrian Prince Accused Of Illegally Killing Bear Named Arthur In Romania
Prince Emanuel von und zu Liechtenstein got a permit to hunt a "problematic" bear, but allegedly killed Arthur instead.

BUCHAREST (AP) — Romanian police will investigate a possible poaching case involving an Austrian prince who is reported to have “wrongly” killed a massive male bear in a trophy hunt on a visit to the country’s Carpathian Mountains in March, authorities said Wednesday.
Official hunting documents seen by The Associated Press confirms that Prince Emanuel von und zu Liechtenstein was granted a four-day hunting permit in March in Romania’s Covasna County and that on March 13 he “harvested” a 17-year-old brown bear, for which he allegedly paid the princely sum of 7,000 euros ($8,400).
