(KFSN) Merced Police say it was near this railroad crossing that 16-year-old Devonea Graham lost his life Saturday afternoon. Officers say the teen and his two younger siblings were crossing the tracks at P and 24th Streets when Graham was hit by a train. Not far from that location, Rosalinda Vega lost her 13-year-old son, Vicente Mancera, to similar circumstances in 2019. This latest tragedy stirring up painful memories. Stolen Caltrans Equipment found at Merced automotive recycling business Sonora, CA Over $710,000 worth of stolen equipment, including a Caltrans Caterpillar excavator taken from Coulterville, were recovered at a Merced chop shop. It was reported taken in early February from a Caltrans downed tree and debris cleanup site on Highway 132 after the wicked winter storms hit the Mother Lode, as earlier reported here. Vehicles stolen from Turlock, other cities found at Merced chop shop The Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force followed up on tips regarding a stolen 2017 Caterpillar Excavator out of Tuolumne County which led to an automotive recycling business in Merced being used as an illegal chop shop (Photo contributed). The search for a stolen excavator led to a scrap yard in Merced where Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force investigators found 10 stolen vehicles from Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Tuolumne and San Joaquin counties and arrested one man on various criminal charges including running a chop shop. StanCATT investigators were conducting follow up on tips regarding a 2017 Caterpillar Excavator with brush attachment that was stolen out of Tuolumne County. Tribune Staff A North Dakota man convicted of methamphetamine trafficking crimes after investigators seized nearly two pounds of meth hidden in a piñata and a jar of peanut butter was sentenced Thursday, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney s Office. Christopher Michael Stebbins, 53, of Williston, N.D., received 12 years and six months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. A jury found Stebbins guilty on Nov. 6, 2020, of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute meth and with attempted possession with intent to distribute meth. Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided and continued Stebbins’ detention following the hearing. ....

Investigators say Anthony Perez was involved in the shooting that left two people dead and a third injured at the Evergreen Park Apartments on Santa Fe and Glen Avenues on December 2.
