Spring Fling in Pineville has food, fun, music and COVID-19 vaccine


Besides having fun at the annual Spring Fling held Saturday on Prince Street, Pineville Concerned Citizens was encouraging nearby residents to attend the event and get vaccinated.
I think it s time for us to come out, get the vaccination to be free of COVID, said Angelina Iles of Pineville Concerned Citizens.
We re here as part of the Vaccine Equity Project, said Ben Nugent-Peterson, community organizer with Central Louisiana Interfaith and Together Louisiana.
The Vaccine Equity Project is a statewide initiative called Bring Back Louisiana that targets underserved communities with very low vaccination rates. Bring Back Louisiana  takes the COVID-19 vaccines to those communities through targeted vaccine events and grassroots outreach. ....

Bring Back Louisiana targets residents in low vaccination areas
After battling COVID-19 in March 2020, Rev. James S. Hardison, Sr., made a promise to himself and God that he would help others not go through the same ordeal.
Last Friday and Saturday, Hardison s church Greater Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church on Fenner Street, was one of the COVID-19 vaccinations sites for  Bring Back Louisiana.
The Region 6 Office of Public Health, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Rapides Regional Medical Center and the Louisiana National Guard were assisting with the program at both Greater Live Oak and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on 16th Street. The Pfizer vaccine was administered to those wanting to be vaccinated. ....

Louisiana Department of Health announces COVID-19 testing for week of February 22-27 | Department of Health


Test site details
Once on site, those being tested will need to wear a mask and stay in their cars.
For those ages 13 and older, the site will use a self-administered nasal swab test that will allow those being tested to swab their own nose on site while in their vehicles. Those being tested will drop the sealed sample into a container on their way out of the drive-thru site.
Parents will administer tests to their children ages 12 and younger.
While awaiting results, individuals who have been tested should follow CDC guidelines and take steps to help prevent the virus from spreading to people in their home and community. ....

The COVID-19 testing schedule for sites operated by the Louisiana Army National Guard (LANG) for the week of March 8-13 is listed below. No LANG-operated sites will be open in Region 7 (Northwest Louisiana).
