City Council members were stunned last week by the news that electric scooter rental company Bird hoped to bring 50 vehicles to Mexico.
“It sounds a little dangerous and off the wall,” chairman pro tem Vicki Briggs.
The company provides rechargeable stand up scooters that can travel at speeds up to 17 miles per hour. Riders pay electronically and are charged per minute, dropping the scooters where their trip ends. ....

SHEBOYGAN - A new type of motorist may start cruising on Sheboygan roadways, as early as this May.
Bird Rides Inc. is interested in bringing its rentable electric scooters to Sheboygan, leading the city to draft rules for Bird or any other electric scooter company that may wish to operate in Sheboygan.
Electric scooters have become a common sight in major cities left on sidewalks for users to rent using a phone app and then leave at their destination.
Bird, one of the world s leading providers of rentable scooters, was founded by an Appleton native, and it recently got approval from Appleton and Wauwatosa to deploy 100 scooters in those cities this spring. ....
