Art Auctions Will Support Cape Cod Arts Relief Fund

As the regionâs creative economy slowly starts to recover from the pandemic, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod will be helping to expedite the process with two auctions to support the Cape Cod Arts Relief Fund.
The foundationâs live auction, Prelude to Summer, will be held on Thursday, June 17, at 5 PM at the Hyannisport Club. The event will also be livestreamed on the auction platform Bidsquare.
The public will have the chance to bid on artwork created by Cape Cod artists, as well as on experiences including the chance to have musician G. Love give a concert in the high bidderâs back yard or a pair of tickets to Fashion Week in New York City. ....

Mercy! Northcross is 2021 Cape Cod Woman of the Year

BARNSTABLE The Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners, in partnership with Tales of Cape Cod, has named Wendy Northcross of West Barnstable as the 2021 Mercy Otis Warren Cape Cod Woman of the Year for making a significant positive impact in our region.
Northcross, the longtime CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and a local business and community activist, received three nominations from Peter Scarafile, Dorothy Savarese, and Elaine Bono.
In his nomination letter, Peter Scarafile stated, With her strong work ethic and endless hours as a volunteer, she has left her mark on our community. Truly Wendy has made a difference in the lives of the people of Cape Cod, and she is an excellent candidate for the Mercy Otis Warren Cape Cod Woman of the Year Award. ....

“This funding is critical to shining a bright light on the beauty, power and depth that arts and culture have on our region,” she said in an announcement of the state grant.
By showcasing cultural offerings, Wake said, “we have an opportunity to not only provide exposure, but an essential boost to our artists and arts organizations that desperately need all the help they can get.”
The foundation’s grant is the largest of the 14 grants distributed to Cape and Islands organizations. Those represent nearly one-quarter of the 59 grants and about 19% of the more than $1.58 million in funding available through the newly created Travel and Tourism Recovery Grant Pilot Program. ....
