A ceramics artist from Pulham Market is teaching the importance of smiling – and raising money for a number of wellbeing organisations in the process.
With smiles so often concealed behind face masks for the past 12 months, Heather Richards has been selling her range of ‘Smiling Eyes’ ceramics; an assortment of platters, jugs and trivets featuring an image of two ‘smiling eyes’ behind a face mask – reminding people that they do not need to show off their pearly whites to spread a little bit of joy. ....

West Norfolk groups welcome £320k of coronavirus culture grants

Arts and heritage organisations in West Norfolk have been awarded more than £320,000 of grants in the latest round of support from the government s Culture Recovery Fund.
The scheme was established last year to help venues recover and re-open following the coronavirus shutdown.
Five West Norfolk groups and venues have been given support in a new round of grants announced today, which are intended to help prepare for re-opening during the spring and summer.

The biggest beneficiary in our area is Lynn s Corn Exchange, which has been given £124,000. ....

The latest solo exhibition to open online at Newark’s Gallery 6 is A Tribute to J. M. W. Turner. It runs until March 27.
It features work by Fiskerton artist and sculptor Darren Stevenson.
Having originally studied engineering, Darren turned to painting while completing a masters degree in fine art.

He got inspiration from many of the great artists and sculptors, including Schiele, Richter, Auerbach, Giacometti, Moore, Frink and Reg Butler ­— but none more so than the great master Joseph Mallord William Turner RA, known in his time as William Turner. ....

Ketton artist set for Stamford show as lockdown inspires new creative spark

While lockdown has put many lives on hold, it has helped inspire Rutland artist Lucy Cade to find a new lease of creative life.
Lucy, from Ketton, has returned to the art world after a break to bring up her three children, and is putting the finishing touches to her next solo show.
The Supposition of her Existence will feature about 18 of her paintings, and runs at Stamford Contemporary Arts from Monday, May 10 to Saturday, June 12.
Before then, Lucy’s work will feature in an online exhibition hosted by the London Paint Club which begins on Monday and runs until April 11. ....
