The College of Amenity Horticulture is located at the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland,  Dublin.  Having our college located in the National Botanic Gardens provides students with a unique training opportunity. There is a strong tradition of training at the National Botanic Gardens dating back to 1812. Our aim is to train students for employment in the amenity horticulture industry. We provide our training in association with OPW, Dublin Municipal Parks departments and a large selection of Horticultural Businesses.  Currently we are providing training for 300 students between all our courses. There is a balance of both school leavers and mature participants among the students. The College of Amenity Horticulture is non-residential with students finding accommodation in the locality. ....

With this learning type in mind, Teagasc provides a range of hands-on education and training programmes at their colleges nationwide.
Agriculture
Study a level five certificate in agriculture at one of the six Teagasc-approved agricultural colleges across the country.
While each of the colleges are unique, they all provide a practical educational experience and a QQI-approved level five qualification, which will allow students to progress to a level six course or embark on a successful career in agriculture. ....

Assistant Principal appointed at Teagasc College of Amenity Horticulture
Deirdre Walsh is the new Assistant Principal in the Teagasc College of Amenity Horticulture at the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin.
Originally from a dairy farm in Kilcash, County Tipperary, Deirdre Walsh initially studied Horticulture in the Teagasc Kildalton College and Waterford Institute of Technology, and went on to receive an Honours Degree from University College Dublin with a BSc in Landscape Architecture. In 2020 she graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching in Further Education from Waterford Institute of Technology.
Deirdre Walsh has been a college lecturer for the past four years at the Teagasc College of Amenity Horticulture at the National Botanic Gardens. During this time, she has facilitated and encouraged the adoption of technology in all aspects of horticultural training. Before lecturing, she worked from many years in Eastern Long Island,  New York, with a multi-fac ....
