Senior hosts fourth annual Pop-Up Thrift Shop
Proceeds from the event will support the Nature Preserve, BU’s Food Pantry

All of the proceeds from the fourth annual Pop-Up Thrift Shop will be donated directly to the Nature Preserve and the Binghamton University Food Pantry.
This year, College-in-the-Woods Dining Center will once again be converted into a secondhand store in order to raise funds for the Binghamton University Food Pantry and Nature Preserve.
The Pop-Up Thrift Shop, run by Jacob Kerr, a senior majoring in science communications, has for the past three years fundraised on behalf of the Nature Preserve, raising about $1,000 each time. In the past, its funds have been used to treat the hemlock trees of the Nature Preserve to protect them from a species of destructive invasive insect. This year, proceeds from the shop will be split equally between BU’s Food Pantry, which will use them ....

Following a spike in COVID-19 cases on campus, with a total of 362 positive cases from Feb. 13 to Feb. 26, Binghamton University’s Residential Life faculty implemented changes in dining hall services, including the enforcement of new safety protocols.
On Friday, Feb. 26, BU’s Residential Life closed the College-in-the-Woods Dining Center and began using it as a space to prepare meals solely for BU students in quarantine housing. Additionally, the Hinman Dining Hall has been under construction for over one year now. As a result, the Chenango Champlain Collegi ....

A recent rise in COVID-19 cases have led to measures students may feel are inadequate

Earlier today, Binghamton University Vice President Brian Rose sent out a B-Line News Addition to the BU community. COVID-19 cases are on the rise and we are nearing our 5 percent infection threshold that mandates BU to move fully online if surpassed. In the statement, Rose stated that there are 154 students in isolation on campus and 122 students in quarantine housing. Those in quarantine housing have been sent to one of two local hotels. Rose went on to say that he didn’t want “to throw blame around,” listed several reports of off-campus gatherings and concluded by asking students to “be a member of our campus community and not just a consumer of our services.” ....
