Four Alpena High School Seniors were recognized with the National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program from College Board.
Amelia Berles, Jade Gray, Alexis Jones, and Collin Lightfoot were recognized by the College Board for their overall academic career and performance on last October’s NMSQT.
The College Board National Recognition Programs create pathways to college for students from underrepresented communities by awarding them academic honors and connecting them with universities across the country. To be eligible for this program, students must take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year, achieve the minimum requested PSAT/NMSQT score, earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of their junior year, and attend school in a rural area or small town. ....

To earn the honor, Dunn had to earn a grade point average of 3.50 while carrying a course load of at least 12 hours.

The College Board National Recognition Programs has honored San Luis High School students Maritza Noriega and Guillermo Velez as National Hispanic Scholars.
Both seniors, Velez and Noriega received the honor based on the high grade point averages they maintain and high scores they achieved on the PSAT test.
Velez plans to study physics with the goal of earning a doctorate in a specialized field, while Noriega plans to study architecture. ....

Farmington students honored by national African American recognition program


Four Farmington Public Schools’ seniors were honored by the College Board National African American Recognition Program.
The selected students were Terrence Bartell, senior class president, and Alden Wiredu, of North Farmington High School, and Cameron Duplessis and Eric Winston of Farmington High School. Through this designation, the teens received academic honors, and they were connected with universities across the country.
To qualify to receive a College Board National Recognition, students must identify as African American, Hispanic or Latinx, Indigenous, and/or attend school in a rural area or small town; achieve the minimum requested PSAT/NMSQT score; and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of their junior year. ....
