HÀ NỘI The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) has requested provinces and cities thoroughly handle hotspots of air pollution and exhaust gas emissions.
According to the MONRE, the level of air pollution in some major cities, especially Hà Nội and HCM City, has increased, affecting people’s health and socio-economic development activities.
The main cause is dust from construction and industrial production activities with large amounts of waste and emissions from vehicles.
Faced with the negative impacts of air pollution, the MONRE has asked the People s Committees of provinces and cities to implement urgent solutions to control air pollution. ....

These Frontline Workers In Telangana Will Get First COVID Vaccine Shots

HYDERABAD: The government has devised their COVID-19 vaccine plan. According to the plan, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be administering the vaccine shots first to frontline workers. Around 70,000 to 75,000 frontline workers in all the urban local bodies (ULBs) of the State could be qualified for the vaccination.
Initially 29,000 workers including health experts, medical officers, sanitary workers and others have been selected. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) released guidelines for the immunization process and gave nine categories for the municipal workers. The workers falling in these categories will be eligible for vaccination. The categories include health care workers, sanitation staff and others. ....

Plastic in the future may be made from sewage sludge

Reserchers in the United States have discovered an efficient, cost-effective way to make biodegradable plastics from unused and potentially polluting waste.
The process makes use of bacteria found in the salt water of mangroves.
The starting point for the study was a simple observation: the US generates seven million tonnes of sewage sludge annually – enough to fill 2,500 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
While some of this waste is repurposed for manure and other land applications, a large quantity is sent to landfill.
Now, after several attempts, a team of researchers from Texas A&M University have discovered an efficient and cost-effective way of using leftover sludge to produce biodegradable plastics. ....
