School buses, safety and a tree collide in London neighbourhood

LONDON, ONT.
Neighbours surrounding an overcrowded school in the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) are upset with a plan to create a school bus access road next to their backyards.
The Oxford Park Community Association (OPCA) says the plan threatens neighbours, traffic and even what could be one of the tallest vintage trees of its type in Ontario.
OPCA members say they were not consulted about the road plan in advance. It would run from Eagle Heights Public School on Oxford Street through the schoolyard to Upper Avenue.
Member Sandra Miller says her group only discovered details when they noted someone measuring the site. ....

Hurricane Michael – 2018
Luckily for Delaware, it is somewhat rare for tropical storms to strike the state directly with hurricane-force winds. Only two storms since 1851 have caused hurricane-force winds in the state. One of these storms, Hurricane Gloria, occurred in 1985 and caused substantial damage. The other, Hurricane Hazel, occurred in 1954. That storm killed four people and caused significant damage to the state as well. In 2011, Hurricane Irene skirted by the state but caused two fatalities, widespread flooding and damage to over 50 homes.
Often Delaware experiences the direct effects of a landfall by a North Atlantic tropical storm. Since 1749, about 111 tropical storms have affected the state, including 21 that passed directly over the state. ....

Parents of Huron-Perth students to decide soon on in-class or remote learning for September

Article content
Parents of students in schools across both the Huron-Perth Catholic District and the Avon Maitland District school boards will have to decide before the current school year wraps up whether their kids will learn remotely or in person this September.
Though local board officials are waiting for word from the province on the amount of funding they will receive for the 2021-2022 school year through Ontario’s Grants for Student Needs program, they are not anticipating as much funding dedicated to remote-learning programs as they received for the 2020-2021 year.
