New Castle, DE – New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer announced today that the county will begin accepting applications for National Health Corps Delaware Members for the 2021 Pilot Program Cohort. To apply, prospective applicants should visit application.nationalhealthcorps.org.
“This again puts New Castle County on the forefront of fighting this pandemic,” said Meyer. “Starting today, we are actively recruiting individuals from the hardest hit communities across our state to raise their hand to serve. WILMINGTON, Del. – Today, New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer, Delaware State University President Tony Allen, Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester cut the ribbon and formally opened Delaware State University’s new genomics testing lab.
Since announcing the partnership and New Castle County’s $5.5 million investment in early November, DSU has received critical laboratory hardware, made key hires, earned regulatory approval, and retrofitted 5,600 square feet of the Kirkwood Highway campus to laboratory space.
This month, the lab began testing DSU’s athletic teams, and will soon begin processing tests for the whole student body. By mid-February, New Castle County hopes to purchase testing capacity from the new facility, as do Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, and University of Maryland Eastern Shore, both prominent Historically Black Colleges and Universities. ....

New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer announced on Dec. 7 his appointment of C.J. Bell to the position of executive assistant, effective the same day.
Bell is an entrepreneur who has a special passion for increasing the millennial presence in Delaware. In 2018, he founded The Connect, a grassroots networking group geared towards supporting millennial retention in Delaware.
Bell recently held the position of campaign coordinator for Gov. John Carney. Prior to that, Bell worked as staff assistant for Sen. Tom Carper. There he assisted and managed events and programs for the city of Wilmington, as well as created outreach programs for Delaware’s millennial population. ....
