Wood County commissioners target Crawford Street home for demolition | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG The Wood County Commission is looking at having a dilapidated house on Crawford Street torn down.
The commission discussed the property Thursday.
On Dec. 28, emergency crews were dispatched to 111 Crawford Street where a hole had to be cut in the roof and heavy equipment used to help remove someone who was in health-related distress. The person weighed a lot and crews could not remove him because of access issues in the home and structural issues.
Wood County Compliance Officer Sarah Robinson and Wood County Engineer Maria Hardy were on the scene to assess the condition of the home. Both determined it was not fit for human habitation and believe the county needed to take action to have the property cleaned up and the house torn down. ....

PARKERSBURG Wood County officials talked about the impact the storming of the U.S. Capitol by protesters this week has had on people.
During its Thursday meeting, the Wood County Commission talked about what happened Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., when a large group of people, many with pro-Trump attire on as well as carrying signs and flags in support of the President, stormed the building, smashed windows, gained access to a number of offices and the floor of the U.S. Senate as well as causing other damage in an attempt to disrupt the joint session of the United States House of Representatives and Senate from counting and certifying the electoral votes which would name Democrat Joe Biden as the next President of the United States. ....
