Missouri’s emphasis on job creation and economic development was gaining steam when the COVID-19 pandemic emerged last year to temper momentum.
But, as Gov. Mike Parson detailed Wednesday in his State of the State address, the state’s increasingly favorable business climate is paving the way for post-pandemic economic recovery.
“Missouri is among the top tier of states for total economic recovery with 71 percent of jobs recovered,” he told a joint session of the state Legislature in Jefferson City. “We are among the lowest unemployment rates in the country and have again reached number two in the United States for apprenticeships.” ....

Residents of Meadow Ridge Senior Living community in Moberly were among the first people in Randolph County to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations last week.
For Betty Kritz, 87, the arrival of the Moderna vaccine was a welcome sight and could not come soon enough.
“For people like me, it is very important for me to do,  Kritz said Tuesday.  This is going to allow me the opportunity to get back out into society again. More importantly, after I have my second dose later in a few weeks, this will allow me to visit more closely with my family and friends that I love. I m one of many who have been under quarantine for a long time, and I ve missed getting out and seeing people and doing other things.” ....

St. Joseph Schools superintendent welcomes newly released state funding

Dr. Doug Van Zyl By TOMMY REZACSt. Joseph Post Missouri Governor Mike Parson released nearly $127,000,000 in previously withheld Fiscal Year 2021 funds this week, including $1.5 million for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and nearly $26 million for the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development.St. Joseph School District superintendent Dr. Doug Van Zyl says every bit of financial assistance right now is helpful."I think every little bit helps," he said. "We're very fortunate to have a good partnership with (Buchanan) County and what they've been able to do to support us with the dollars they were given to support schools and businesses. We got a pretty good chunk of that."The exact amount the St. Joseph district is receiving is not yet known.Parson released about $40 million in general revenue funds in October, and allocated about $95 million in CARES Act funds for critical services.Nearly $100 million of those funds we ....

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced that the state will be releasing once restricted Fiscal Year 2021 funds back into the budget.
The governor has released $126,921,606, which includes $117,460,583 in general revenue.
The Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development will receive nearly $26 million from these funds and $1.5 million for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. ....
