Chennai, April 30 (IANS) The non-life insurance industry has settled about 84 per cent of the Covid-19 claims lodged till date with the average pay out per claim being about Rs 96,000.

It s not just number of COVID health claims but the average size of claims that s worrying health insurers. Claims are even higher for non-COVID cases, say insurers.
The average claim size for COVID claims is nearly one lakh versus a pre-COVID average of Rs 50,000-Rs 55,000, said Rajagopal Rudraraju, Senior Vice President & Product Head - Health & Health Claims, Tata AIG. âThe increase in average claim size for COVID is unprecedented in the industry and needs to be addressed, else these could be passed on to the customer by way of increase in premiumsâ, he said. ....

HYDERABAD: Insurance Regulator and Development Authority of India (Irdai) has told insurers to communicate their cashless approvals for Covid-19 claims within an hour of submission of the request by the hospital and ensure that patients get discharged soon.
In its order on April 28, the Delhi HC had told Irdai to issue immediate instructions to insurance companies to ensure that they communicate their approvals to hospitals within 30 to 60 minutes, in order to ensure that patient discharge is not delayed. ....

Maharana company Power Grid Corporation’s InvIT offering got off to a strong start, with the anchor book seeing a mop-up of ₹ 3,480 crore on Wednesday from 47 institutional investors that included many international and leading domestic funds. The amount mobilised through the anchor book accounted for nearly 45 per cent of the targeted ₹ 7,735 crore from the public issue.
The public issue of this InvIT, first ever from a public sector company, opens on Thursday and has a price band of ₹ 99-100 per unit. ....
