State, several restaurants not backing down in dispute over dining shutdown order

SOMERSET â Hot meatloaf sandwiches were on the menu Thursday at the Summit Diner.
But halting table service to comply with Gov. Tom Wolfâs latest order was not â even with state officials asking the state Commonwealth Court to impose penalties on the diner for rejecting the mandate.
âWeâre thinking about our workers,â said Chloe Foy, a manager at the North Center Avenue restaurant. âWeâre a family here and we didnât want them to worry about being sent home to ring in the New Year on such a terrible note like this.â
The Summit Diner is one of 22 restaurants statewide facing legal action after it declined to comply with Wolfâs original three-week order to halt dine-in services until Monday. ....

Crawford County restaurant among dozens temporarily closed by state

AÂ Greenwood TownshipÂ restaurant was temporarily closed by Pennsylvania s Department of Agriculture after it was found to be in violation of the state s COVID-19 restrictions on dining.
Aunt Bee s Restaurant, 17408 Smock Drive, wasÂ among 33 restaurants closed by order from the department during a round of inspections which occurred from Dec. 21 toÂ 27, according to an announcement from the department Tuesday. The restaurants wereÂ closed after the department confirmed they were open for dine-in service and did not comply with the order while an inspector was present.
Of those 33 restaurants, Aunt Bee s is the only one to have subsequently ceased performing dine-in service, thus allowing the closure order against it to be lifted. ....

State Receiver questions Chester's fiscal stability

In a report that alleges that the Chester Stormwater Authority offered the Philadelphia Union to reduce its fees in exchange for land for a basketball facility and that claims Chester City Hall is top heavy and elected officials there have not contributed to the city s fiscal stability, the state-appointed Receiver laid out actions needed to be taken to begin to steer the city toward financial solvency.
In response to the Receiver for the City of Chester Status Update filed with Commonwealth Court on Dec. 2, both city and Stormwater Authority officials had diametrically opposing views to the report s findings.
In the report, the Receiver noted that the office had been contacted by several city businesses, including the Philadelphia Union, who told them that Joseph Oxman, solicitor for the Stormwater Authority of the City of Chester, had approached the soccer organization to offer a reduction in its stormwater fees if it provided the authority land to build a basketball fac ....
