GARDNER A major nor’easter blew through the region from Monday into Tuesday this week, dumping nearly 18 inches of snow across much of Greater Gardner.
Strong overnight winds caused even higher snowdrifts against houses, garage doors, and cars.
“This was a typical nor’easter,” explained Alan Dunham, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Boston. “This one had a little bit more moisture with it, also it was a little bit of a longer duration storm, so that accounts for the higher snowfall amounts we’re seeing.” ....

GARDNER First responders from Gardner and surrounding communities will be receiving their COVID-19 vaccination shots during a clinic at City Hall on Jan. 13.
Firefighters, EMTs and law enforcement officials have been categorized as the third priority group within phase 1 of the state’s vaccination distribution timeline.
Gardner Public Health Director Lauren Saunders said vaccinating local first responders is essential to maintaining public safety in the community.
“It’s important for first responders to get the vaccination because they are exactly that first responders,” Saunders said. “These are the people that show up for various types of emergencies and engage with the general public every day. It is important for both their safety and the safety of the general public that they be vaccinated and protected as best as possible from contrac ....
