UM-Flint 2021 graduates reflect on senior year marred by coronavirus pandemic

It reminds her of all the friends she made and things she accomplished.
But it was also her first time spending real time participating in a university event since COVID-19 forced virtual classes last March.
Younger recently joined other students from the upcoming graduating class and the spring 2020 class gathered at Willson Park in downtown Flint to record a video celebrating their achievements.
“It’s bittersweet,” Younger said. “It’s nice to be able to come and do this, despite the pandemic. I get a little bit of that on-campus feeling.”

Public education became personal to him in 2003.
That’s when Tunnicliff’s first son, now 17, was born.
It was already something he and his family had dedicated their lives to, but now Tunnicliff saw public education in “a new lens.”
Tunnicliff’s father, William, had a long career in education as former superintendent of the Mt. Morris and Flushing school districts.
