AMHERST, Mass. – New developments in recreational fishing technology from the use of aerial drones and social media scouting reports to advances in hook design are creating challenges for fisheries management and effective policy making, according to a new study co-authored by University of Massachusetts Amherst researcher Andy Danylchuk.

Seven local luminaries have been appointed to the province’s highest honour, the Order of Ontario, in a class that includes former premiers Mike Harris and Ernie Eves.
Ontario Lt.-Gov. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, chancellor of the Order of Ontario, announced the 25 appointees for 2020 and 22 for 2019 and included details of their accomplishments.

Hon. Robert. W. Runciman or “Bob” to his constituents was called the “consummate Canadian public servant” for his 45 years of service at municipal, provincial and federal levels. Among the accomplishments listed in his appointment, Runciman is credited with leading the revitalization of Brockville’s downtown area, initiating a treatment centre for inmates with mental illness and supporting the province through the SARS crisis. ....
