Some Schools Will Close or Switch to Virtual Learning Due to Winter Storm Damage


Dallas ISD
The Dallas Independent School District announced on Twitter that all classes will be canceled Monday and Tuesday as crews continue to survey the damage. All virtual learning classes are also canceled.
Dallas ISD is offering curbside meals on Monday. The meals will include breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack for two days. Click here for a map of pick-up locations and times.

Denton County now has more than 10,000 actively infected coronavirus patients


Denton County on Thursday surpassed 10,000 estimated active coronavirus infections for the first time.
Denton County Public Health announced Thursday another 836 county residents had tested positive for the virus, raising the cumulative infection count to 33,121, of whom 10,329 were estimated to still be infected.
That means roughly 31.2% of all the people confirmed to have the virus in the county over the past 40 weeks were concurrently infected Thursday, according to DCPH estimates.
Of the newly infected residents, 122 live in Denton, 117 in Lewisville and 95 in unincorporated Denton County.
Additionally, DCPH confirmed another eight residents’ deaths were caused by COVID-19.
Six of them were residents of the Senior Care Health & Rehabilitation Center in Denton, which on Wednesday had another three residents reported dead of the disease. ....

Another 3 Denton County residents dead of COVID-19


Three more Denton County residents were killed by COVID-19, according to a Friday report by Denton County Public Health.
Two were Denton residents in their 70s — one man and one woman — and the third was a woman in her 60s living at Longmeadow Healthcare Center in Justin.
DCPH does not release further identifying information about those killed by the disease.
Confirmation of their deaths raised the county tally to 183 local COVID-19 deaths by DCPH’s count. The Texas Department of State Health Services had confirmed 282 such deaths by Thursday night.
Additionally, DCPH confirmed another 701 locals had tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. That announcement raised the cumulative countywide total to 33,822 infected locals, of whom 10,746 were estimated to still be infected Friday. ....

Two more Denton County residents dead of COVID-19


Denton County Public Health confirmed Tuesday another two county residents had died of COVID-19.
They were a Lewisville woman in her 60s and a Highland Village man who was at least 80 years old.
DCPH does not release further identifying information about those who die of COVID-19.
Confirmation of the cause of their deaths brought the countywide death toll of COVID-19 to 167, according to local officials. The Texas Department of Stat Health Services, on the other hand, had reported 265 such deaths by Monday evening.
As of Tuesday, roughly 91% of all the staffed adult intensive care unit beds across the county were occupied. The majority of those beds were filled by people suffering from COVID-19. ....

Four more Denton County residents dead of COVID-19


Another four county residents’ deaths were caused by COVID-19, according to a Friday announcement from Denton County Public Health.
DCPH conducts an epidemiological investigation into each such death, which had resulted in a lag of more than 80 deaths compared with the state’s tally.
The four announced Friday were a man in his 60s living at the Denton State Supported Living Center, a Pilot Point man in his 60s, a Carrollton man at least 80 years old, and a woman at least 80 years old living in Cross Timbers Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Flower Mound.
The man living at the DSSLC was the third center resident to die of COVID-19. ....
