Ten Galway remote working hubs join Ireland's first ever digital hub network

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Ten remote working hubs in Galway have joined Ireland’s first ever digital hub network.
Minister Heather Humphreys has this afternoon launched the ‘Connected Hubs Network’, which will see over 100 hubs connected nationwide by the end of this year.
It aims to allow people working remotely to have the choice of working from a nationally connected hub in their area as well as working from home, or from the office.
The new ConnectedHubs.ie platform is now live and available hubs can be viewed via an online map.
In Galway City, there are four hubs which are part of the new network – Galway Technology Centre, Westside Resource Centre, GMIT iHub and Portershed at Eyre Square. ....

Galway Technology Centre is expanding with a view to supporting more start-ups and ICT businesses in the west of Ireland in the coming years.
Galway Technology Centre, a social enterprise that supports start-ups in the ICT sector, has announced major expansion plans. Over the next 15 years, it claims that the expansion of its facilities could help to generate 12,500 jobs and €1.4bn in investment for the west of Ireland.
Since its launch in 1994, the centre has been home to more than 300 different companies that have created more than 3,000 jobs. Alumni include Storm Technology, SAP and Wayfair, as well as many start-ups. It currently houses 41 companies with 326 employees working on site. ....

Galway Technology Centre, which provides office space for growing companies, is to expand in a move that it claims could lead to a sharp rise in jobs for the region.
The centre, which was established in 1994 as a social enterprise in the wake of the closure of Digital Equipment Corporation, is to embark on a 22,000sq ft (2,043sq m) expansion that will see the total floor area extend to 72,000sq ft (6,689sq m) and with the number of floors in the facility growing from two to four. ....
