Conrad Delivers Mv. Sandra Holt To Crounse - The Waterways Journal

Crounse Corporation, headquartered in Paducah, Ky., recently took delivery of the mv. Sandra Holt, one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly marine vessels operating on the inland waterway system. The 6,034 hp. vessel was constructed by Conrad Shipyard LLC, headquartered in Morgan City, La., and delivered with a U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection for Subchapter M compliance and EPA Tier 4-compliant main engines.

U.S. Coast Guard makes boat Certificate of Documentation valid for five Years

Of the nation’s nearly 12 million registered recreational boats, those owners who federally document their vessels, or about 165,000 boats, will be spared the hassle of renewing their U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Documentation every year as a result of recent rule change that now makes documentation valid for five years. The move was the result of Coast Guard cost-saving efforts and requirements set forth in the Frank LoBiondo Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2018.
In Missouri, the change will impact approximately 13,000 boats owners across the state. The majority of those are recreational boat owners. Fewer than 3,000 of the documented boats in Missouri are classified as commercial. ....

Kitsap Transit Acquires Vessel From San Francisco Bay

Bremerton, Wash. ferry operator Kitsap Transit said it has purchased the secondhand passenger vessel Solano for approximately $1 million from the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA),
The sale closed last Friday following approval by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The federal government has an interest in the 125-foot high-speed ferry that dates back to 2004, when the City of Vallejo, Calif., used a federal grant to buy the 320-passenger catamaran for $11,165,604 from Anacortes, Wash. shipbuilder Dakota Creek Industries.
Required by the California Air Resources Board to meet stricter air quality standards, WETA concluded it would be more cost-effective to sell Solano than retrofit it. ....
