Shooting of Cherryville man now a homicide case
A Cherryville man shot in the head on Monday, May 3, has died, and police upgraded the charges against the suspect in the shooting to first-degree murder on Friday, according to court records.
Rhonschoci Markee Flack Jr., 24, of 2573 Crab Apple Trail, Denver, died Tuesday, May 4, from his injuries at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, according to Cherryville Police.
Kendra Adaire Odums, 22, who lives at 218 Heather Lane, had been in Gaston County Jail without bond since the shooting on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. Police upgraded the charge to first-degree murder on Friday morning. ....

Gaston County man accused of killing woman

A Gaston County man faces a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of his 72-year-old wife early Thursday morning at their home near the North Carolina/South Carolina line.
Gaston County Police were called to 4976 Willow Pond Lane around 6:54 a.m. Thursday in reference to a shooting.
When police arrived they found Judy Allred Helms suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, where she later died, according to police.
Police charged her husband, 71-year-old Rickey Allen Holdsclaw, of the same address, with first-degree murder. He was booked into Gaston County Jail at 11:49 a.m. Thursday without bond. ....

Gaston County Police name suspect in double homicide

Gaston County Police have named a suspect in a double homicide that took place Monday night in the Crowders Mountain area.
Police say they charged Jordan Cameron Moses, 29, of 1411 Gaston Way, Dallas, with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon on Thursday.
Moses is considered armed and dangerous. The public is cautioned not to interact with Moses. Instead they are encouraged to contact 911, Gaston County Police stated in a press release.
Gaston County Police were called to 2410 Woodleaf Drive west of Gastonia around 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22. ....

Drugs had role in Gaston County double homicide, 1 victim played dead

A three-day search for a man wanted for a double homicide in western Gaston County ended early Monday morning more than 60 miles away in a hotel in the foothills of western North Carolina.
Police from two counties and four agencies captured 19-year-old Michael Shane Barnes of Taylorsville as he left a Quality Inn off U.S. 421 in Wilkesboro just after midnight.
Barnes was booked into Gaston County Jail at 7:48 a.m. Monday without bond on two counts of first-degree murder in the Feb. 18 shooting deaths of Robert Lucas Luke Gibby, 22, of Bessemer City, and Adam Kale Wood, 19, of Kings Mountain. ....

Second person charged in Gaston County double homicide

Gaston County Police have now charged two more people with murder in a shooting last week that left two men dead and a third injured.
Police charged Kaleb Isiah Carver, 21, of Taylorsville, with two counts of first-degree murder in the Feb. 18 shooting deaths of Robert Lucas Luke Gibby, 22, of Bessemer City, and Adam Kale Wood, 19, of Kings Mountain.
Police filed juvenile petitions against a third person on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
Carver was booked into Gaston County Jail without bond at 6:19 p.m. Monday.
Earlier Monday, police arrested Michael Shane Barnes, a 19-year-old suspect from Taylorsville, on identical charges. ....
