Residents of Calgary through to Claresholm can enter the contest.
Prizes are being awarded in four categories:
family/adult three-dimensional gingerbread house;
under 17, no adult help three-dimensional gingerbread house (it can be made from a kit);
all ages one-dimensional gingerbread house cookie (the cookie must be in the shape of a house or building);
businesses can submit a gingerbread house that reflects their business.
Those who want to enter have until Dec. 23 at 11 p.m. to submit pictures of their completed gingerbread house to the Facebook page of the 2020 Nanton Gingerbread House Contest. Include the name of the person entering the contest and which category being entered. ....

ERWIN â COVID move over, because Northeast Tennessee is on the rebound â the good kind, not like the relationship break-up kind.
Look no further than Unicoi County to see whatâs on the horizon, as the Chamber of Commerce has already fired up its event season with a March 27 Easter egg hunt.
It was the first group event for residents since COVID-19 stamped everything out last year.
In May, things should really pick up with events that include the Unicoi Strawberry Festival, the Flag Pond Ramp Festival and the Erwin Outdoor Festival.
Summer is by far the most popular time of the year to visit Unicoi County. Name an outdoor activity, and Unicoi County probably has it. HOLIDAY ART DISPLAY: The “From Russia with Art Holiday” exhibit will be on display at The Picture Place, 320A Harvard St., Brookline, through Dec. 30.
            The exhibition is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays.
            The exhibition is curated by Olesya and Jerry Koenig and Tom Coppi. Masks and social distancing are required. Etchings, oil paintings and mixed media will be on display.

ESSEX Originating in Germany during the 16th century, gingerbread houses are synonymous with the holidays. Confectionary delights, constructed out of cookies and frosting, adorned in colorful candied ornaments, these unique displays of creativity and craft are the things that family memories are made of, which is why the Essex Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) holds a Gingerbread House Contest fundraising event every year.
Under normal circumstances, the handmade gingerbread house entries are beautifully arranged, for display, in the school cafeteria, to be viewed by parents and visitors who are attending the winter musical concert.
