2020 was shaping up to be the best year yet for Anna Gordon and Crescent Moon Catering.
The Port Orchard catering business had 10 events per week scheduled for the summer months. Gordon, Crescent Moon’s owner and executive chef, expected the company to grow significantly.
“We were locked and loaded for the year,” Gordon said.
BREMERTON Nathan Draxler knows he could have avoided potential exposure to COVID-19 if he had stable housing.
At the start of this year, Draxler and his friend were kicked out of the apartment they had rented for more than a decade. They had been behind on rent for months after Draxler saw all three of his gigs dry up because of the pandemic.
While the state’s moratorium on eviction prevented Draxler from being evicted for not paying rent, his landlord wanted to sell the place and to make sure that Draxler and his roommate were gone. That’s OK under the state’s rules.
