A NEW song released by Scots folksinger Iona Fyfe in collaboration with Aberdeen Football Club has reached the charts and garnered hundreds of thousands of views.
The award-winning singer, originally from Huntly in Aberdeenshire, recently released a version of The Northern Lights (of Aberdeen) that was originally written by Mary Webb.
The new cover of the iconic song was commissioned by Aberdeen FC for their 21/22 season ticket campaign.
The video has already been viewed more than 225,000 on social media and briefly reached number 39 on the UK iTunes Download Charts. ....

An Aberdeenshire folksinger’s voice has become the soundtrack to hopeful Aberdeen Football Club’s fans with her interpretation of The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen.
The song, originally written by Mary Webb in the early 1950s, is the latest single from Huntly songstress Iona Fyfe.
As part of Aberdeen’s 2021-22 season tickets campaign, the young singer collaborated with the club, who commissioned the recording. ....

A three-day suite of live music gigs, organised by an Orcadian music promoter, is set to go live online from tonight, Friday.
It’s been a long time now since we were able to enjoy new live music in-person, and though it looks like we’ll have to wait a while longer yet before we can gather at a gig, Orkney’s Craig Corse is keen to tide us over until we can get our next music fix. ....
