GREENSBORO, N.C. Executive vice president for hospitality at Koury Corp. Mo Milani died over the weekend, according to the Triad Business Journal.
The newspaper reported Milani died at the Greensboro-based real estate company unexpectedly.
The Triad Business Journal said he died while on site at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel & Koury Convention Center.
Koury Corp. s president Richard Vanore said the death came as a shock and the cause of death is unknown. ....

Local superintendents OK after 2 attendees at annual meeting test positive for COVID


HENDERSON — Three local superintendents are fine after a recent in-person association meeting, after which two people attending tested positive for COVID-19.
The North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association held its annual meeting at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro on Dec. 3-4.
The meeting saw short-lived attendance from Vance County Schools’ leader.
VCS Superintendent Tony Jackson was “briefly” at the meeting, but had no contact with the affected individuals, VCS Public Information Officer Aarika Sandlin said in an email. Jackson gave a short welcome and spent the remainder of his time away from the meeting, attending the State Board Meeting virtually, which, she said, was taking place at the same time. ....

Medical bills and price transparency: Patients will have an easier time knowing what they’ll pay for medical services at UNC Health. The system will roll out an online tool that will give patients an estimate of the cost of some procedures and visits. But the new price transparency is the result of new rules from the Trump administration. President Trump required hospitals to post their prices by January. Hospitals sued to keep prices secret, but they lost the first round in court in June. A federal judge ruled that hospitals were “attacking transparency measures generally” to restrict patients’ access to medical prices. Medical prices are notoriously opaque, and hospitals account for much of the soaring cost of health care in the U.S. In North Carolina, some hospitals charge patients more than twice as much as others ....
