David Johansen, Debbie Harry, Glen Matlock and more have been confirmed for a virtual tribute concert in honour of late New York Dolls guitarist Sylvain Sylvain.
The musician - who was an original member of the influential punk rock band and stayed with them until they split for a second time in 2012 - had been battling cancer for over two years but passed away, aged 69, on January 13.
And those who knew him best, including the group’s frontman David Johansen, Blondie s Debbie Harry and Clem Burke, Sex Pistol Glen and Lenny Kaye are among those on the line-up for the tribute hosted by Rolling Live Studios, which will feature “a mix of stories, performances and videos”. ....

(CNN)Sylvain Sylvain, guitarist of the influential American punk glam rock band New York Dolls, has died of cancer at the age of 69, according to a statement posted on his Facebook page.
Sylvain, real name Sylvain Mizrahi, died on Wednesday after fighting the disease for two and a half years, according to the post, which was shared on Thursday night.
As most of you know, Sylvain battled cancer for the past two and 1/2 years. Though he fought it valiantly, yesterday he passed away from this disease, the post read. ....

Born Sylvain Mizrahi in Cairo, Egypt, in 1951, he emigrated to France with his family and then to the U.S. in 1961, settling in Queens, New York. His middle school and high school classmate Billy Murcia was also his partner in a clothing business and bandmate in a succession of rock bands. In 1971, the configuration of Murcia on drums, Arthur “Killer” Kane on bass, Mizrahi and Johnny Thunders on guitars and singer David Johansen took on the appellation New York Dolls. “As most of you know, Sylvain battled cancer for the past two and half years,” O’Kelley Mizrahi wrote in a statement on his Facebook page. “Though he fought it valiantly, yesterday he passed away from this disease. Sylvain s wife, Wanda O Kelley Mizrahi, shared the news of his death in a Facebook post Thursday, revealing that he died on Wednesday.
As most of you know, Sylvain battled cancer for the past two and 1/2 years, Mizrahi wrote. Though he fought it valiantly, yesterday he passed away from this disease. While we grieve his loss, we know that he is finally at peace and out of pain.
