‘WE GAIN’ project for women entrepreneurs to be implemented in Northern, UER
Women entrepreneurs in nine districts in the Northern and Upper East regions will soon have access to digital financial services, business, social and gender services to enable them succeed in their various economic activities.
This is in line with the Women Entrepreneurs in Northern Ghana Gain Access to Integrated Services via Agent Networks (WE GAIN) project, which seeks to increase sustainable access of women entrepreneurs in the two regions to a range of services they need for personal and business growth and to build resilience.
The WE GAIN project is being implemented from 2021-2023 by Grameen Foundation USA in partnership with American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative, RISE Ghana, Ghana Developing Communities Association, and Healthkeepers Network, and in collaboration with MTN Ghana. ....

Average cocoa yields in Ghana by smallholder farmers are currently 400 kg/ha, far below their production potential of over 1,500 kg/ha. Dominant factors contributing to this current yield gap include climate, cultural practices, and the soil. Among these, long-term soil degradation and, in particular, soil infertility is recognized as one of the main factors limiting cocoa yields
There is huge potential for precision agriculture services to help farmers identify soil practices that lead to higher productivity and profitability, lower input costs and optimize input use, particularly fertilizer use. However, a major limitation in assessing farm-scale soil suitability and limitations lies is acquiring accurate soil property data. ....
