New photography exhibition comes to Newton Aycliffe

One of the art pieces included in the exhibition is by photographer Arthur Smith, it will go on display later this month at The Greenfield Gallery
BEAUTIFUL landscapes in the region are being celebrated at an upcoming exhibition.
Greenfield Arts, based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, are welcoming the Darlington Association of Photographers to The Greenfield Gallery for a new five-week exhibition.
The exhibition – which starts later this month – includes more than seventy pieces of artwork. Visitors will be able to see picturesque landscapes, historic industries, townships and villages.
Creative opportunities inspired by the exhibition includes a talk and demonstration session with artist and photographer Elaine Vizor. ....

New exhibition showcasing miner's artwork launches in Aycliffe

A COMMUNITY hub is celebrating the work of a miner turned renowned North-East artist.
Greenfield Arts, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, said they are delighted to welcome back Bill Hindmarsh to the Greenfield Gallery.
Current exhibition, People and Places, is a showcase of Mr Hindmarsh s eclectic mix of subject and media including previously unseen and current work.
The artist was born in Durham and worked in the pits for 12 years.
Mr Hindmarsh has been a professional artist for the last two decades and said he is thrilled to show his pieces at the exhibition and programme at Greenfield Arts. ....

IN THE FRAME: After developing an early interest, Elaine Vizor returned to photography in 2008
For the last two years photographer Elaine Vizor from Spring Gardens has been helping catalogue public statues as part of a nationwide project. During lockdown her voluntary photography work with Art UK has been curtailed but this has not stopped her exploring new and old photographic techniques
How did you get started as a photographer?
I’ve always had an interest in photography since my first Kodak Brownie film camera as a young teen. I got my first SLR 35mm film camera at college later when not many people had them and studied black and white photography as an extra subject at teacher training college. ....
