“Our doors are open. We just don’t have any doors.”
That’s how Connie McClure, director of client care at the Women’s Care Center in Peoria, assured a shocked pro-life community that the pregnancy center’s mission continues despite an early morning fire on May 3 that gutted its facility at 7319 N. University St.
Fire investigators have determined the blaze was deliberately set and initial damage estimates are $250,000.

St. Louis Demonstrators Call For Hawley To Resign

St. Louis Public Radio
Protesters gathered in front of the Old Courthouse in downtown St. Louis Saturday afternoon urging Sen. Josh Hawley to resign.
Hundreds rallied in downtown St. Louis Saturday to demand the resignation of U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley.
The Missouri Republican was the first senator to announce he would publicly object to President-elect Joe Biden’s win. Hawley faced strong criticism this week after he was photographed raising his fist in support of a pro-Trump mob, shortly before they burst into the Capitol on Wednesday.
Under gray skies, a crowd of masked protesters gathered in front of the Old Courthouse Saturday afternoon, waving handmade signs that read “Resign Hawley” and “The blood’s on your hands.” ....

Updated January 6
HOMELESS WILL GO COUNTLESS: The Joint Office of Homeless Services is seeking a waiver for the biennial point in time count, which takes place every odd-numbered year in late January. That process, in which Multnomah County takes a one-night census of all the houseless people it can find in the county, is part of a federal effort overseen by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The count is a key component to ensure continued eligibility for state and federal funding for homeless programs, but late last year, the feds said counties could seek waivers due to the pandemic without endangering funding. The feds have already gr ....

Pamplin Media Group - Sources: Will Adams work for Wheeler?

January 06 2021
The current Portland mayor is reportedly talking to the former one about a position with the city.
Could former Mayor Sam Adams return to City Hall as current Mayor Ted Wheeler s next chief of staff?
No, that s not a skit from the TV comedy show Portlandia, where Adams played an aide to a fictional Portland mayor played by actor Kyle McLachlan. That is one possibility after The Oregonian reported Wednesday, Jan. 6, that Wheeler is discussing a possible role for Adams in city government. Willamette Week reported on Tuesday that Kristin Dennis, Wheeler s current chief of staff, will leave the mayor s office on Feb. 3 to become Metro President Lynn Peterson s chief of staff. ....
