Eleven Calvert Women Honored at the 18th Annual Women of the World Celebration | Southern Maryland News Net

On Saturday, April 17, 2021, 148 people joined the Calvert County Commission for Women (CCCW) and its six community partner organizations to celebrate the achievements and contributions of 11 outstanding Calvert County women at the 18
th Annual Women of the World Celebration. Because the COVID-19 pandemic delay from Spring of last year, the 2020-2021 event was held virtually this year with the Calvert Library providing technical support.
Each year the Commission for Women awards 4 Outstanding Achievements Awards. Nominations are sought community-wide in four categories: Advocacy, Business, Service and Woman of Tomorrow.
This year the recipients were: for Advocacy – Lori Honey, Executive Director of Project Echo for her work with the homeless for many years;  for Business – Stacy Hutchinson, Associate Director of Administration and Facilities at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, Chesapeake Biological Lab in Solomons for ....

Wageningen Team Awarded Top Visionary Title For Their Vision For The Dutch Food System 2050
Wageningen researchers Imke de Boer, Evelien de Olde, Kawire Gosselink and their team have been selected as one of the top 10 “Visionaries of the prestigious international Food System Vision Prize. Their team shared a holistic vision of a healthy and circular food system in the Netherlands in 2050, entitled ‘Re-rooting the Dutch Food System; from more to better’. The 10 winners will each be awarded $200,000 in recognition of their bold ideas for tackling some of the world’s most pressing food systems challenges.
The Food System Vision Prize was launched by the American Rockefeller Foundation, in partnership with SecondMuse and OpenIDEO. Over 1300 teams from around the world submitted their vision for a healthy and regenerative food system in a region of their choice for the year 2050. ....

New York, January 7, 2021 – Ahead of the first-ever United Nations’ Food Systems Summit, the Food System Vision Prize announced its top 10 “Visionaries” who offer solutions to complex food system challenges across six categories: environment, diets, economics, culture, technology, and policy. These winners will each be awarded $200,000 in recognition of their bold ideas for tackling some of the world’s most pressing food systems challenges.
The Food System Vision Prize is sponsored by The Rockefeller Foundation and powered by SecondMuse and OpenIDEO. Winners were selected from a pool of more than 1,300 applicants from 119 countries who responded to the prize’s call for researchers, nonprofits, businesses, governments, and other groups focused on food system-related challenges to submit ambitious and attainable plans for regenerative, nourishing food systems by the year 2050. ....
