Museum of Ceramics 40 + 1 Anniversary celebration | News, Sports, Jobs

May 13, 2021
20 professional artists from around Ohio will be setting up their easels in Downtown East Liverpool Saturday, May 15th, 2021 to kick off the Museum of Ceramics’ “40+1” Anniversary Celebration. (40+1 as the Museum’s 40th Anniversary Celebration had to be postponed due to Covid-19 last year.) Outdoor painters from the Ohio Plein Air Society (ohiopleinairsociety.com) and the Eastern Ohio Plein Air Club will check in at the Museum and be painting throughout the Downtown area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many of the artists attending have received national and regional recognition for their works. The paintings created will then be on display and for sale outside the Museum from 3 p.m. until about 4:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the Museum. The event is receiving support locally from Tim Horton’s and nationally from Golden Artist Colors, Judson’s Art Outfitters and Streamline Publications.

From a private collection is this extremely rare Lotus Ware teapot made by Knowles, Taylor and Knowles.
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Museum of Ceramics announces the opening of the online exhibit, Crockery City Teapots.
Funded by an Ohio Humanities CARES grant, the exhibit features over 250 teapots made in the East Liverpool pottery district. Visitors may go to the museum’s home page, themuseumofceramics.com or themuseumofceramics.com/ttcpots to see the exhibit.
The layout of the exhibit was created to closely replicate the museum experience. The opening page is a slide show of many of the teapots in the exhibit. A click on any of them, takes the viewer to a Gallery. Galleries are organized by pottery: Taylor, Smith, and Taylor, Hall China, Harker Pottery and Knowles, Taylor, and Knowles (Lotus Ware) have galleries of their own, while other galleries feature multiple potteries. Each teapot photo is accompanied by basic information such as year, maker, and current owner as well as a brief story about the pot, the designer, or the pottery that made it.
