A Melbourne pastor has defied coronavirus lockdown by holding a packed church service, telling police he is obeying God, not man.
Christian Revival Church Pastor Paul Furlong was fined $1,652 and could face incitement charges for leading the service in the middle of Victoria s lockdown.
Dozens of officers swarmed to the Narre Warren church on Sunday morning, following reports of a mass gathering with few masks and minimal physical distancing in place.
Church and religious services were banned by Victorian Daniel Andrews when he enacted a snap five day lockdown last Friday until 11.59pm on Wednesday.

It is quite hard to think of something good to say about 2020. This year’s coronavirus health crisis has left our way of life in shambles. 2020 will be vividly remembered for having had one of the largest single-year death tolls brought on by the outbreak of Covid-19. 
The highly infectious viral disease has killed millions worldwide. Locally as of December 25, 2020, official statistics from the ministry of Health show that at least 245 Ugandans have died from Covid-19 while the cumulative confirmed cases have shot to 33,563 since the disease emerged in the country in March.
