KILLEEN, TX — Jarin Cole has been playing music for the past decade, which is over half of his life.
“It started with my dad playing music in the car, every time we played at home, we listened to Lenny Kravitz's greatest hits catalog,” he explained. “We just listened to that as we drove home.”
From the car to the big stage across the United States, the young violinist showcases his talents to many folks.
”I'm just, I'm just happy to be able to spread... music wherever I can,” he said, smiling.

KILLEEN, TX — Some parents and students in Killeen say they want to stick with virtual learning in the fall and that's something the district is looking into.
Killeen ISD conducted a survey that showed just over 850 families say they want to stay on some kind of virtual learning platform It is a small number that raised several questions in Tuesday’s workshop meeting.
”It really looked at why we need to examine the modality of instruction. Look at if virtual learning as a whole is something that Killeen ISD wants to buy into and provide for our families and, if it is feasible and sustainable for the entire school year,” said Taina Maya, Chief Communications Officer for KISD.

Killeen council to vote on when to hold second election


At a special session on Tuesday the Killeen City Council is expected to vote on what day to hold a second election for the District 4 council seat race.
A mandatory recount on Thursday confirmed Incumbent Steve Harris and candidate Michael Boyd are tied with 181 votes apiece. Third-place finisher Brockley Moore received 112 votes, however, the second election will only be between Harris and Boyd.
At the special meeting, which will be held prior to the council’s normally scheduled workshop, the council will discuss what day to hold the second election, and when to do early voting. The election must be held between June 2 and June 12, according to city documents.

KPD to host community forum Thursday


The Killeen Police Department is hosting a “community conversation” this week at a Killeen church.
The forum will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Potters House, 420 E. Ave. C, in Killeen.
Any local residents are welcome to attend and exchange information, ideas and concerns regarding their neighborhood with the police department.
