Travel policy exempts fully vaccinated from quarantine March 10, 2021The Gilford School District will require any students or staff members who travel outside of New England to quarantine, with exceptions for those who are fully vaccinated. The Gilford School Board adjusted its travel policy during the March 1 meeting based on recent guidance from the NH Department of Health and Human Services. Superintendent Kirk Beitler announced the changes on the Gilford Middle School s Web site. The policy was updated based on Update #33 from DHHS on vaccine allocations and quarantine guidance. Under the policy, staff and students who travel outside New England will need to quarantine for 10 days when they return to the region. There are some exceptions to this rule and ways quarantine can end earlier. ....

THOMASVILLE â A Thomasville woman charged with being part of a self-styled militia that organized members to storm the Capitol Jan. 6 is a former High Point Police Department officer. Laura Steele, 52, and five other individuals who authorities say are associated with a group called the Oath Keepers, which includes many former military and law enforcement members, were arrested and charged last week for their roles in the insurrection. Among the others charged is Steeleâs brother, Graydon Young, 54, of Florida, who encouraged her to join Oath Keepers in the days before going to Washington, according to the indictment. Although a total of only nine Oath Keepers have been charged so far, the indictment indicates that more than 40 came to Washington on one bus from North Carolina. ....

Students will present the comedy musical based on Hans Christian Andersen s The Princess and the Pea Thursday through Saturday with some new approaches because of the pandemic. I love this show; I ve done it a number of times, said director Matt Demko. The music s kind of underrated, it s a good show. I felt like it was the right year (for it). A number of changes have been made to the production to keep the cast, crew, and audience safe. ....

He was in a buoyant mood, the day before his surgery, as workers took away the dialysis chair in the family s sunroom, where he d received treatment for more than a year because his kidneys weren t working properly. There are 3,000 people waiting for an organ transplant to save their lives in North Carolina alone, according to donatelifenc.org. Of those, almost 90% are waiting for a kidney. ....
