As Casebeer sat hunched over the potter’s wheel, he proceeded to wet a clay ball and shape a cup with his hands.
This is Casebeer’s “moment of bliss,” when the clay is soft and supple. Because at that point, it has the potential to be made into anything.
He views this time he spends in the ceramics studio as a gift.
“Our time on the planet is actually very short and the older you get, you begin to realize that,” Casebeer said. “‘How much longer do I really have to do this?’ It better be good. Everyday is a special day if you get to be with your art and work in the studio. Not everybody finds that in life.” ....

A virtual community forum on clean air in a Southern Albany County town took place this week.
In September, Democratic Albany County Executive Dan McCoy signed a local clean air law aimed at companies like Lafarge and Norlite, which was ordered to halt the burning of firefighting foam at its Cohoes incinerator.

In November, taking advantage of a provision in state law that allows local municipalities to override county laws, the Coeymans town board unanimously passed two amendments to the 2019 Coeymans Clean Air Law, which changed the law to allow tire-burning at the Lafarge/Holcim Cement Plant, situated across the street from the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School on Route 9W. ....

Philippines: Cemex Philippines Solid Cement plant in Antipolo has lifted a new rotary kiln into position as part of a US$235m installation of a new production line at the site. Once complete the new line will add 1.5Mt/yr to the unit’s production capacity increasing the total to 3.4Mt/yr. The new production line will reuse waste hot gases to dry raw materials and high efficiency bag filters reduce improve emissions control. Cemex is also using its proprietary Low Temperature Clinker technology to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. ....

KILN, Miss. (WLOX) - We all know about the Coast Guard station at Gulfport Harbor, but there’s another Coast Guard unit set up in the Kiln. It’s their special operations unit, otherwise known as Port Security Unit 308.
“We are a deployable special forces. Our unit specifically provides security to the ports anywhere around the world,” said Lt. Comm. John Traxler. “We can be deployed anywhere around the world in 96 hours, so we stay ready all the time.” ....
