Five things to do in East Lothian this weekend


THE sun is shining and it is expected to reach 19 degrees Celsius across East Lothian this weekend,
East Lothian has plenty of parks, beaches, museums and tourist attractions for all ages to enjoy, but if you are looking for something else to do, then here are five suggestions.
Putting greens
For golf enthusiasts, the county’s putting greens, ran by enjoyleisure, reopen tomorrow (Saturday).
There are 18-hole putting greens at West and East Links in North Berwick which are open 10.30am-7.30pm at a price of £3.10 per round for an adult and £2.20 for a concession. To book, call 01620 892080.
There are two bowling greens and a nine-hole pitch and putt course in Musselburgh on New Street, open noon-5pm Saturday and Sunday and 1-9.30pm Monday-Friday. ....

It later became a royal burgh under James I.
After the railway had arrived in 1850, North Berwick became a fashionable seaside resort, attracting elderly people who wanted to live near the sea, Edinburgh residents who wanted to take a swim or play golf, and an incessant stream of tourists.
Other attractions were the West and East Bays, with sandy beaches perfect for bathing, on either side of the old harbour.
The celebrated postcard artist Reginald Phillimore (1855-1941) came to North Berwick in 1902 and would stay here for the remainder of his life.

He lived at ‘Rockstowes’, the comfortable terraced house he had inherited from his aunts, at 7 (today 9) Melbourne Road. ....
