TABC officials discovered several violations of Texas COVID-19 safety measures this past weekend that merited heightened scrutiny and punishment.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) has temporarily suspended the liquor licenses of Houston clubs Clé, Spire and Grooves for violating the state s COVID-19 restrictions.
In a press release, the TABC said the suspensions are the result of inspections by their agents conducted over the weekend.
All three businesses are accused of violating Gov. Greg Abbott’s Executive Order GA-32, which requires businesses which sell alcohol for on-premise consumption to comply with capacity limits as well as social distancing and facial covering requirements, the release stated. ....

(Reuters) - The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cleveland Browns on Sunday to reach the AFC Championship, but it may have come at a cost as Patrick Mahomes was knocked out of the game during the third quarter due to a concussion.

With the winner of next week’s game between the Chiefs and visiting Buffalo Bills moving onto the Feb. 7 Super Bowl, all eyes will turn to Kansas City to see if quarterback Mahomes will be healthy enough to compete.
Mahomes, who was named the Most Valuable Player of last year’s Super Bowl, appeared dazed after he got up from a hit midway through the third quarter before eventually jogging to the Chiefs’ locker room where he was further evaluated. ....

CLE Alert: New Credit Requirements for New Jersey Attorneys on Diversity, Inclusion, and Elimination of Bias

Effective January 1, 2021, New Jersey attorneys must complete 5 Ethics credits (up from the 4 previously needed), 2 of which must be Diversity, Inclusion, and Elimination of Bias (DIEB). The total number of credits needed to meet the full CLE requirement is still 24. This change affects all attorneys due December 31, 2021 and later.
Diversity, Inclusion, and Elimination of Bias programs address diversity and inclusion in the legal system of all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disabilities. Possible topics may include ways to create diversity programs in law firms, transformational leadership, ways to identify and eliminate unconscious bias, and culturally competent lawyering. ....
