Update: The Families First Coronavirus Response Act provides authority for the CA Dept of Social Services to provide emergency allotments of CalFresh benefits. For the month of March 2020, emergency allotments will be issued to eligible CalFresh households with client availability on April 12, 2020. For the month of April 2020, emergency allotments will be issued to eligible CalFresh households with client availability on May 10, 2020. All emergency allotments will be issued on the eligible household’s existing electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card. CalFresh Maximum Allotments: Household Size 1 – Maximum Allotment 194, for 2-355, 3-509, 4-646, 5-768, 6-921, for a household of 7 – Max. Allotment is 1,018.

Research & Commentary: Making the Invest in Kids Program Permanent is the Right Way to Go for Illinois May 12, 2021 Program Provided Scholarships For Over 5,500 Students In 2020, With Over 32,000 Still On Wait List A bipartisan group of legislators have introduced a bill to make the Invest in Kids Program, Illinois’ tax-credit scholarship (TCS) program for low-income students which is set to expire in 2022, a permanent program. Enacted in 2017, the Invest in Kids Program is open to families with household income levels below 300 percent of the federal poverty level. Currently, roughly 52 percent of Illinois families are eligible for the program, which has a budget cap of $75 million. ....

But as schools reopen and children return to in-person classrooms, many kids will spend part of every day in a toxic environment that causes harm to young lungs and minds: diesel-powered school buses. Nearly all of the approximately 480,000 iconic big yellow buses in the United States are exclusively fueled by diesel and produce diesel exhaust, a known carcinogen. This doesn’t need to happen. Clean electric school buses already successfully transport kids in a handful of school districts. We can and should deploy electric school buses across the nation. ....
TVFCU Opens City Center Branch In Market City Center Building Monday, May 10, 2021 Community leaders joined TVFCU employees for the grand opening of TVFCU’s new City Center Branch Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union opens its new City Center Branch, 728 Market St., Suite 112 B, in the heart of Chattanooga’s City Center on Monday. The walk-up branch is located directly across the street from TVFCU’s current branch at 715 Market Street. TVFCU opened its branch at 715 Market Street in June 1978. The branch has served TVFCU well during the past 43 years, but the three-story building no longer meets the credit union’s needs. TVFCU outgrew the administrative office space and moved to 535 Chestnut Street in February 2018. ....
