A woman who was subjected to brutal four-hour rape before being driven handcuffed to an ATM where she managed to escape is pleading with the Parole Board to keep her rapist behind bars.
Roger Kahui
is serving preventive detention with a minimum non-parole period of 13 years for the attack on the woman in 2006. ....

Hudson man gets federal prison time for stealing AR-style rifles

ALBANY – A Hudson man has been sentenced in federal court to 8 1/3 years in federal prison for aiding and abetting the theft of firearms from Zero Tolerance Manufacturing, a federally licensed firearms dealer in Ghent.
Austin Suarez, 26, was also sentenced to three years of post-release supervision.
Suarez pled guilty on January 11, 2021. As part of his plea, he admitted that on February 18, 2020, he and co-conspirator Duane Thompson agreed that Thompson would break into and steal firearms from Zero Tolerance Manufacturing.
Suarez aided Thompson in obtaining a pry bar and two-way radios to use during the burglary. ....

As more and more adults get vaccinated against COVID-19, a growing percentage of new cases are appearing in children. During a public meeting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, Dr. 
Sara Oliver said that in April, a higher percentage of new cases were reported in children between the ages of 12 and 17 than in adults over the age of 65.
She then said the number of diagnosed and reported cases is an underestimate. She noted that some estimates suggest that roughly 22 million children ages 5-17 have been infected with COVID-19. That would account for nearly 20% of the total cases in the U.S. ....
