COVID cases are continuing to climb across Ireland, both north and south, with a warning of a worrying rise in infections among young people in the Republic.
In the north, the Department of Health said on Monday that another 528 cases of infection had been identified, taking the overall confirmed case total to date to 132,997.
There were no further deaths reported on Monday on either side of the border, leaving the total confirmed Covid fatalities in the north at 2,158 and 5,006 in the south. ....

THE Republic s health minister has described a meeting about Donegal s high rate of Covid infections as very positive .
Stephen Donnelly spoke with local political representatives, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan and his deputy Ronan Glynn at the weekend.
Donegal has a 14-day incidence rate of almost 300 infections per 100,000 people, compared to an average of 127 across the state.
Northern Ireland s seven-day rolling figure is just 34 per 100,000.
The figures have been attributed to “persistent and unfortunately reasonably widespread non-compliance of measures , including birthday parties and social events linked to funerals. ....

Tánaiste (Irish Deputy Prime Minister) Leo Varadkar has said AstraZeneca s explanation for why it has failed to meet Covid-19 vaccine supply targets for the EU are not satisfactory .
He said it was evident there was a problem with AstraZeneca in contrast with the Pfizer and Moderna companies.
The latter were honouring their commitments to the EU give or take a few glitches , he said.
Mr Varadkar described the problem as enormous .
I m seeking explanations too, he told the Dáil (Irish parliament).
I can understand how AstraZeneca might run into problems with supply for manufacturing or quality control. ....
