While there is no doubt this year s Royal Highland Showcase cannot be a patch on the previous world-class livestock events we have all come to love and live for at Ingliston – due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions – it is however, one that has to be hugely admired and relished when the vast majority of such events have either been cancelled or postponed. Having the inspiration and enthusiasm to keep this year s show alive from the onset, when many were dropping off like flies, has not only been a massive undertaking by all the organisers and those behind the scenes, but also the breeders and exhibitors who have enabled The Royal Highland Showcase to finally come to fruition.

January 1 of this year marked the establishment of a bespoke Aberdeen Angus herd book for the Republic of Ireland. In addition, the Irish Aberdeen Angus Association (IAAA) will now have responsibility for pedigree calf registrations throughout the EU.
IAAA general manager Felicity McGrath explained:
“The association in Ireland currently has a membership in excess of 530, which is steadily increasing.
“In addition to these members, the herd book will also be registering cattle for 18 other EU member states.
“Due to the steady increase in membership in both Ireland and Europe, the association is running ahead of its projected registrations for 2021.”

For this year’s May Bull sales, the team are excited to announce that both sellers and committed purchasers will be able to attend the sales in-person again, in as normal a sale as the current restrictions allow.
Online bidding will also be running alongside the traditional mart ring for all other interested parties, given the success of the company’s virtual platform. One key difference this year sees the 2021 sales split over three weekends, with Limousin, Continental and Traditional themes across each.
Catalogues are now published, and the sales will take place between Friday 7th May and Saturday 22nd May.
