Blake Mills have worked with a remarkable list of musicians over the years. From old-school legends like Bob Dylan and The Who to rootsy modern indie types like Phoebe Bridgers and Cass McCombs and progressive R’n’B superstars D’Angelo, Eryka Badu and Anderson .Paak, the list goes on and on.
Palladino had planned this record as a solo excursion before it transformed into a collaboration with Mills. Over several sessions, the duo rounded up some high-end musical mates for open-minded jams that indulged their experimental leanings. Improvisation, technically superb playing, horns, weird time signatures… this is a jazz record of sorts. So is this post-everything supergroup a noodly indulgence, or a brave new sound-world? Blake Mills and Pino Palladino Announce New Album, Share Song


Multi-instrumentalist and producer Blake Mills and bassist Pino Palladino have announced a new album called
Notes With Attachments. The collaboration is out on March 12 (via New Deal/Impulse!). Check out the lead single “Just Wrong” below.
According to a press release, Palladino and Mills recorded
Notes With Attachments across a two-and-a-half-year period. Guests on the reocrd include drummer Chris Dave, saxophonists Sam Gendel, Marcus Strickland, and Jacques Schwartz-Bart, and keyboardist Larry Goldings.
“It all evolved from me playing Blake a few ideas, getting a reaction from [him] and seeing if he’d be interested in working on [them],” Pino Palladino said of the album’s creation in a statement. “As the project evolved in the first few weeks and months even though the music was mostly coming from my original ideas, some of which I’d had for quite a while [because of] Blake’s response to the ideas, it dawned on both of us that it would be a co ....
