Petrol price reduced by Rs1.5 per litre

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to reduce the prices of petroleum products in the country, a notification from the Finance Division in this regard said Wednesday.
The government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs1.50 per litre, high speed diesel by Rs3, kerosene by Rs1.55, and the rate of light diesel oil has been slashed by Rs1.56 per litre. The development comes after Federal Finance Minister Hammad Azhar had announced the government s decision to decrease the prices of petrol and diesel. This decision is not related to the ECC [meeting that took place] but the first decision we have taken, after consultations with the prime minister, is that we will reduce the prices of petrol and diesel, said Hammad Azhar during a news conference. ....

Endicott Police Crack Down on Speeding After Crossing Guard Hit
A veteran crossing guard was seriously hurt when she was struck by a car while on the job on East Main Street in front of Union-Endicott High School.
The guard was admitted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse after she sustained a broken pelvis. Endicott police chief Patrick Garey said she was hit by the vehicle on Monday.
The incident happened three days after workers with the New York State Department of Transportation installed new school zone speed limit signs. The speed limit is 20 mph from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on school days. ....

A primary school principal who allegedly lowered an 11-year-old pupil into a pit toilet to search for a dropped smartphone leaving the child covered in faeces has been suspended.
The Eastern Cape education department said it had learnt “with shame the ill-treatment” of the pupil and others who were allegedly instructed to search for the phone. ....
